Description
This dataset supports experimental investigations of a directional transmit–differential receive (Tx–dRx) eddy-current testing (ECT) probe evaluated on Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) manufactured composite specimens. The initial experimental campaign examined different probe configurations to determine optimal sensitivity for detecting out-of-plane wrinkling in cured carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates. The measurements revealed measurable differences in probe response between cured and uncured AFP materials, highlighting the influence of material state on electromagnetic behaviour.The uploaded data correspond to the experimental validation of the Tx–dRx probe and its capability to detect representative AFP manufacturing defects. Performance evaluation includes frequency selection studies and lift-off sensitivity analysis. To benchmark detection capability, results were compared against laser profilometry measurements, a commonly adopted inspection approach for AFP surface assessment.These datasets enable independent verification of probe performance, frequency-dependent sensitivity behaviour, and comparative analysis between electromagnetic and optical inspection methods.
